Palestinian Territories

Islamic Relief has worked in the Occupied Palestinian Territories since 1994. We opened our Gaza City office in 1998.

Within hours of the start of the 22-day war of 2008, Islamic Relief Palestine was distributing aid. We remained one of the few agencies working on the ground throughout the conflict.

In the years that followed, we mounted a £30 million emergency response and reconstruction programme that included equipping and renovating the intensive care units and emergency departments of nine hospitals.

As part of our emergency response to conflict in 2012, we delivered £1 million worth of medical supplies to hospitals receiving casualties.

Alongside humanitarian and emergency response programmes, our work in the region has included food distribution, medical relief and orphan sponsorship.

We have established educational enhancement centres, care programs for traumatised children and a school for deaf people.

We also deliver programmes in child welfare, education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation – and sustainable livelihoods that enable vulnerable families to lift themselves out of poverty.
