Albania

Within months of the collapse of the communist regime in 1991, Islamic Relief began working in Albania – distributing food and clothes.

We registered our Tirana office in April 1992, and have since maintained a continuous presence in the country. We also have a field office in Shkoder, northern Albania.

Islamic Relief runs a community centre in Shkoder that has provided the local community with vocational training since 1994. We opened another training centre in Koplik in 2006.

We have been building roads, water systems and irrigation networks in rural Albania since 1999.

Our orphan programme in Albania started in 1993. Orphaned children in Tirana, Shkoder and Pogradec receive a regular allowance, which provides for their basic needs – including education, healthcare, and social assistance.
